The New York Chinese Film Festival is jointly presented by the Chinese American Arts Council(CAAC) and China Central Television Movie Channel(CCTV-6).
Since its first attempt at short feature with "Conquering Jun Mountain"(1905) in Beijing during the final years of China's last dynasty, Chinese Cinema has gone a long way to reach its present status as a significant player in international cinema. There is a strong need to introduce Chinese Cinema culture to the audiences in New York. The 1st New York Chinese Film Festival brought the latest Chinese films to New York City from September 18-20, 2010.
Celebrating the 65th anniversary of the United Nations and the 35th anniversary of the CAAC, the festival program was packed with a star-studded opening night, celebrity appearances, fan events at the Lincoln Center Alice Tully Hall and a gala dinner honoring the most outstanding Asian artists at Capitale.
CAAC was estabished in 1975 to meet the cultural needs of the expanding Chinese community in New York City. It aims to preserve the Chinese heritage within its own community and to introduce tis culture to the greater New York community. It is our great honor to promote Chinese films and to demonstrate the five thousand years of outstanding culture fo China. The festival aims at helping Americans to better understand Chinese culture and to deepen the friendship between American and Chinese people through mutural understanding. This film festival is also expected to build up a platform for world-class international promotion of Chinese films and communication on professinonal levels between American and Chinese film industry. |
