Tony Ching Siu-tungTony Ching Siu-Tung was born in Hong Kong in 1952 and trained to be a Peking Opera acrobat, receiving Wushu (Kung Fu) training. He began his career in cinema as an actor and martial arts instructor in the early seventies at the Golden Harvest production company and, following a long career as an action movie choreographer, he debuted as a film director in 1983 with the movie “Duel to Death”, an innovative “Wuxia” (swordsmen) film. But his international recognition would finally arrive along with filmmaker and producer Tsui Hark, with the film “A Chinese Ghost Story” (1987). Later, his “Swordsman” trilogy was hailed as the first action film franchise in the Wuxia genre. |
